If you are expecting a child, Childbirth Education Classes (antenatal classes) help prepare you for labour, birth, and the early days with your new baby.
Classes are a lot of fun. They can help to answer any questions you have about the pregnancy and birth process, and more importantly, they put you in touch with other expectant parents. Most groups go on to form lasting friendships, and have regular coffee catchups after their babies are born.
Classes are held at Upper Hutt Parents Centre, cnr Ward and Miro Streets, Wallaceville, Upper Hutt.
We run a seven week course on Monday nights from 7pm-9.15pm.
Courses cost$215 (including a one year membership) and are led by a qualified Childbirth Educator. The cost includes a hospital tour, establishment of a coffee group for ongoing support, and membership to our Centre which has additional benefits. We are here for you before AND after your baby arrives.
We encourage you to enrol early to ensure you get a spot. We limit course numbers to 9 couples.
The course covers:
Nutrition and exercise during pregnancy
Labour signs and stages
Pain relief options and interventions
The birth process
Breastfeeding and newborn care
A tour of birthing suites and postnatal rooms at Hutt Hospital
How to enrol:
Make your course payment via internet banking (our account number is: 02-0772-0056602-00 - please quote CBE and your full name as a reference).
Upon receipt of your enrolment form and payment we will send you a confirmation letter and membership card. Unfortunately we cannot confirm your spot until we have received the form and payment.

Here are the class dates for 2017. We recommend booking your class early as they do fill up quickly and there is a maximum number of people we can enrol. Classes also have a minimum attendance number to go ahead. Aim for a class that will end around a month - 6 weeks before you are due.
2018 dates will be available shortly.
