Antenatal classes

If you are expecting a child, Childbirth Education Classes (antenatal classes) help prepare you for labour, birth, and the early days with your new baby.

Classes are a lot of fun. They can help to answer any questions you have about the pregnancy and birth process, and more importantly, they put you in touch with other expectant parents. Most groups go on to form lasting friendships, and have regular coffee catchups after their babies are born.

Course options:

Seven week course on Monday nights from 7pm-9.15pm
Two week course on Saturdays or Sundays from 9am-4pm

Courses cost $195 (one year membership) or $220 (two year membership) and are taken by a Childbirth Educator. The cost includes a hospital tour, optional four week Baby and You course after your baby arrives, the establishment of a coffee group for ongoing support, and membership to our Centre which has additional benefits. We are here for you before AND after your baby arrives.

We encourage you to enrol early to ensure you get a spot as courses are limited to 10 couples.

The course covers:

Nutrition and exercise during pregnancy
Labour signs and stages
Pain relief options and interventions
The birth process and birth video
Breastfeeding and newborn care
Practical parenting
A tour of birthing suites and postnatal rooms at Hutt Valley District Health Board

How to enrol:

Download the Childbirth education enrolement form , complete it and email it to uhpc.childbirthed@yahoo.co.nz or post it to Upper Hutt Parents Centre, PO Box 40-231, Upper Hutt.
Make payment via internet banking or by sending us a cheque.
To make your payment via internet banking our account number is: 01-0771-0019148-00 (please quote CBE and your full name as a reference).
Upon receipt of your enrolment AND payment we will send you a confirmation letter, receipt and membership card. Your spot is not confirmed until we have received the form and payment.
