We are part of a national organisation, Parents Centre NZ Inc, which was conceived because of the need for childbirth education classes in New Zealand and are one of 50 Parents Centres nationwide who offer the following four core services to our members: Our centre is well known for the excellent quality of its childbirth education ( antenatal) classes. Along with these classes, we also offer a wide range of parent education courses and workshops, support and social opportunities for families with children aged from birth to five years. Check out relevant links for upcoming courses/workshops and news. We are a voluntary organisation and highly value our members - without them we could not exist. We welcome you to join our friendly committee and be part of this worthy organisation. We offer: Childbirth Education Classes - Having a Baby? Then you need our antenatal/childbirth education classes. Come along and learn all about looking after yourself whilst pregnant. We offer a FREE 9 week antenatal course that will give you all the information you require to make an informed decision about your birth adventure ahead of you.
Blooming Bodeze - This is a gentle stretching and relaxation exercise class combining yoga and pilates for pregnant mothers, from early pregnancy right through to birth. Our aim is to enhance your pregnancy wellbeing and help you prepare for a healthy and happy birth.
Bodeze Back - Our aim is to provide a quality aerobic workout that is child friendly. So bring your babies and toddlers along with those buggies and front packs and get your Body Back!
Infant Massage - Two sessions of hands-on infant massage. This course covers how to massage your baby, benefits of massage, contraindications to massage, choosing the right time to massage and what oils are safe to use for massage. A great opportunity to enhance your bond with baby. Moving and Munching Course - This 2 week course on a Wednesday morning aimed at babies from 4 months onwards will give you information on starting solids and how to care for your baby now they are mobile. Music & Movement - We currently hold four sessions each week for 0-5 year olds. This is a great way to spend some special time with your preschool children. We have a qualified Early Childhood teacher who also teaches music at primary schools around South Canterbury and is involved in the drama league. Membership - If you have already completed a Childbirth Education class or have small children and would like to take advantage of being a member of Timaru Parents Centre please print our Membership-Childbirth Enrollment Form and mail back to us. All classes are held at our wonderful premises at 9 Napier Street, Timaru. Volunteering Parents Centre is a volunteer organisation run by parents for parents. We are always looking for new faces to help us keep this wonderful organisation running. If you feel you have some time to spare each month to give back to the community then why not think about volunteering with us and meeting some wonderful people in the process. You only ever have to take on what you are comfortable with, some of our positions need commitments once a week, once a month or once every other month.
