Parent Education
New Plymouth Parents Centre offers a range of parenting courses and workshops, all designed to suit the changing needs of your growing family.
You can attend any or all sessions of any course. Places are limited so book early. Courses have discounted fees for current members. All courses and workshops are held at Parents Centre House, 52 Buller Street, New Plymouth.

Choices in Early Childhood Education
This two-hour session involves the presentation of the different choices in early childhood education, and discusses the indicators parents can look for when choosing early childhood care for their children. Representatives from Playcentre, Kinderen, Porse and Kindergarten will be available to answer any questions you may have. Bring all your friends and make it an informative night out. Supper provided.

Family Finances
A two-part, two week evening workshop covering a range of financial issues for families. Topics discussed are financial planning, wills and trusts, banking for children, budget basics and what family assistance you are entitled to as well as parental leave entitlements. Guest speakers are from WINZ and IRD, TSB Bank, New Plymouth Budget Advisory Service and Auld Brewer Mazengarb & McEwen.

SKIP (Managing Your Toddler)
Strategies for Kids and Information for Parents evening workshop is for parents/caregivers to learn more about the Ministry of Social Development's initiatives on how to manage life with under five-year olds and to help them grow into happy and capable adults.
Topics include: * dealing with ages and stages behaviour * toddler temperaments * parenting styles * effective discipline strategies
