*This year we had a Christmas Party and Fundraiser at the Centre on December 17, and thanks to our main sponsor, Re/max New Plymouth and New World City, we were able to run a free event. Thankyou also to all the local businesses who provided items to go into our raffles. We had a huge response, with 150 free sausages eaten, and a very busy santa Claus! * A very big thankyou to Sharryn and Paul Watson from Northgate Motor Lodge who provided free accomodation for a guest speaker. Its great to have local businesses supporting their Parents Centre.
*Did you know Parents Centre House is available to hire or that special occasion/family party/childs birthday? We can now offer a bbq for hire.
*Ever thought about training as a Child Birth Educator? Maybe you did your Antenatal course through Parents Centre and were so impressed you thought about teaching it youself. Parent Centres around New Zealand use qualified CBE's to teach Antenatal courses, and the Diploma is available through Aoraki. *Our Wednesday/Friday Playgroup has been totally revamped and we would love you and your children to pay us a vist! It runs from 9.30am til 11.30am, with morning tea provided for children and caregivers. Extensive indoor/outdoor play opportunities are available for your children.
* Our newsletter is turning green and going electronic! Members will still receive their Kiwi Parent via mail, but your bimonthly newsletter will be electronic. We are also starting a new newsletter page to welcome our newest arrivals into the world, so send us your babies details to

A little bit about Parents centre
Parents Centres New Zealand Inc is a nationwide, volunteer-based organisation committed to quality parenting. We’ve been supporting New Zealand parents since 1952, with 50 affiliated Centres throughout New Zealand. We are proud and passionate about quality parent education, support, networks and in truly valuing parenting as “the best day’s work you will ever do”! Parents Centre proudly celebrates 60 years in operation this year.

New Plymouth Parents Centre has been connecting families in our community for over 50 years. It was one of the first to be established, in 1957, and we are still going strong, helping parents with parenting.
We are part of a national organisation (Parents Centres NZ Inc) and one of 50 Parents Centres nationwide that offer the following four core services to our members:
- Childbirth education
- Parent support and education
- Activities
- Advocacy/lobbying for parenting, birthing and families
Our Centre is well known for the excellent quality of its childbirth education classes. Along with these classes, we also offer a wide range of parent education courses and workshops, support and social opportunities for families with children aged from birth to five years.
