Providing time and space for Mum's to slowly return to pre-pregnancy body shape and strength. �It won�t happen over night but it will happen!�
My name is Sarah Gibbs I am a certified Pilates Instructor with STOTT PILATES which is a pilates school based in Canada; I completed most of my training in England, a little in Australia and gained my Level One Certificate in November 2008. Prior to sitting my exam I was teaching as part of the training for two years in Saudi Arabia and New Zealand.
Due to a serious back injury over seven years ago I was drawn to pilates as part of my rehabilitation programme, saw the huge benefits for all areas of the population and decided that it was for me.
STOTT PILATES improves core strength and balances the muscles around the joints, improving the way your body functions, looks and feels. The Five Basic Principles focused on throughout the courses are
- Breathing
- Pelvic Placement
- Rib Cage Placement
- Scapular movement
- Head and cervical spine placement
Aim of classes:
- To assist with regaining strength in pelvic floor muscles
- To assist with muscle imbalances
- To assist with maintaining good posture and balance
- To assist with pelvis stability
- To enable Mums to have some relaxation and time out
- To assist in reduction of fatigue and backache
- No over stretching due to postpartum recovery
- Time to reconnect with your body.
Requirements:
- All participants must be at least 10 weeks postpartum and have clearance from mid wife or obstetrician; which ever is applicable.
- All participants must start with beginners course irrespective of experience due to the changes the body has gone through during pregnancy and breast feeding
- Baby Friendly if babies are there they will be incorporated where possible.
- Babies able to attend if rolling/crawling depending on mothers� comfort level
- Area for babies will be made in the middle of the class alternatively baby can stay close to Mum
- Mums to bring their baby�s gear and something to lie baby on the ground.
Full registration for courses is required 7 days before courses commence
5 week course
55 minute class (45 minutes Pilates, 10 minutes approximately stretching)
$10 per session non parent center members - Payment in full required prior to or on the first day
$5 per session parent center members � Payment in full required prior to or on the first day
