Parents Centre provides quality antenatal and parent education to the Nelson region. This year, we celebrate 35 years of working in our community.

2011 has been a wonderful year for our committee. Bev Melvin (President) and Sarah Gibbs (Vice President) provide strong leadership and support for committee members. Our committee currently has vacancies in the following roles;

General Committee Members

As a committee member, you can contribute your ideas and views at our meetings.

Our committee meets on the second Monday of each month at 7.15pm. The evening is a combination of attending to the formal business of the committee followed by time to socialize and have fun.

Parents Centre runs professional development programmes that can be recognized on your CV.

We offer

Certificate in Leadership
The Leadership Certificate enables people to gain a full understanding of the organization they have chosen to assist by volunteering. It is a programme that enhances personal development skills and is a certificate that has been widely acknowledged for those seeking a return to employment.

Certificate in Parent Education
An internal certificate programme that is designed to assist those members who wish to facilitate parent education workshops within their Centre.

Both certificates are designed to empower, build self confidence, enhance and develop new skills. They are professional development programmes that support Parents Centre's volunteers.

Certificate in Childbirth Education
