Childbirth Education

Pregnant and want to know about giving birth before the big event? Then our childbirth classes are the way to go. Led by a qualified childbirth educator, the classes cover the following:

Labour stages and signs
Understanding pain relief options and intervention
Exercise and relaxation techniques for childbirth
Baby equipment overview
Maternity care options
Feeding and caring for your newborn

You will meet with other parents who are sharing the same experience as you, and establishment of a coffee group (a life-line for many new parents!), is included as part of the childbirth education class (for those who want to participate).

The courses are for seven weeks and are held on weekday evenings between 7-9:15 pm in Porirua. Some classes are also run over two Saturdays rather than weekday evenings. Classes for the remainder of 2008 are:

30 Oct - 11 Dec (7x Thu). Suit those with due dates from mid Dec to mid Feb.

The course costs $170, which includes one year's Parents Centre membership. Most new mothers go on to take our Baby and You classes with their new babies.
