Childbirth Education
At Hibiscus Coast Parents Centre we offer courses run by trained childbirth educators to prepare parents both physically and emotionally for the challenges of pregnancy and labour.
We hold six courses throughout the year. Courses are seven weeks long and we occasionally run an intensive weekend course which takes place over two days. The course venue is the Pohutukawa room at Whangaparoa library. Our courses are very popular and fill up quickly, so feel free to call as early in your pregnancy as you like to register your place.

Registration for the Childbirth Education Course costs $210 and also includes:
- A Practical Parenting Class - where you can learn the practical side of parenting such as bathing a baby, appropriate bedding, nappy changing, health after birth, hospital stay, contacts available for help, and information about products and gifts.
- Car seat safety
- Parent Panel - your chance to hear experiences from other new parents.
- Baby and You Course - including a CPR/First Aid course
- 1 Year's membership to the Parents Centre - the largest network of parents in NZ, which has many additional benefits.
New parents who attend our childbirth education classes form strong friendships as they go through this exciting stage in life together. Coffee groups are set up for new mums to catch up and have a cuppa while sharing what's happening with their new baby!
