Interested in volunteering for the East and Bays Parents Centre?

We often have various small, but necessary roles that need filling... You can volunteer to help us out by joining our committee. At present we have the following roles available:


Special Interest Host

We require a motivated person to organise and book speakers in for special interest classes.  Evening sessions are approximately 2 hours long, while weekend bookings can be up to half a day.  Topics often include Toilet Training, First Aid, Healthy Eating, Photography etc

This role requires:

  • Confirming speakers
  • Receiving bookings & payments
  • Attending or organising a host for the evening/day courses as the Parents Centre representative
  • Write a monthly report for the committee meetings to give course information and feedback to the committee.

Time commitment is approx 5 hours per evening class (includes running it and classes are often bi monthly)

CBE Class Coordinator

Are you great at organising people??  This could be the ‘brain saving’ role for you!

This role requires:

  • Ensuring the Practical Parenting & Big Sister Rosters are organised
  • Organising a Big Sister for each Antenatal class
  • Organising People for the ‘First-time Parents’ session for Antenatal classes and a new born baby (and Parents) for the ‘Newborn Bathing’ session at Practical Parenting days.
  • Hand over course instructions and folder to Big Sisters on the first night of each Antenatal class. 
  • Ensure payment for Big Sisters is organised and purchase gifts for new parents (all reimbursed)
Working closely with Antenatal Booking Coordinator, Membership Database Coordinator and CBE’s you will be fully supported in this role.

Time commitment is approx 4 hours per week

Committee Coordinator

Superb Team supporter required for committee member well-being.

The role requires:

  • Arranging monthly committee meetings and organising ice-breakers, location, supper and whatever theme takes your fancy
  • Volunteer of the month selection
  • Organise committee outings such as Family fun days,  BBQ’s, Christmas party etc
  • Helping out committee members in need of role backup or holiday coverage due to holidays, new babies, illness etc
An easy role that requires someone with great communication skills.  Also a great way to learn the ins and outs of all our roles.

Time commitment is approx 3 hours per week

Vice-President

This role is basically a back up to the president and is great for anyone wanting to eventually become president of the EBPC. 

 Tasks include:

  • assisting the president in the operation of the organisation
  • reporting to head office when required
  • keeping the communication going with committee members if the president is unable to.  

Time commitment is approx 1 hour per week

$50 Sylvia Park Vouchers up for grabs...


Take on a Big Sister role for any one of our Antenatal classes this year and you will be rewarded with a $50 voucher.

Being a Big Sister will also give you the opportunity to share your experiences with those about to become first time parents and/or refresh your memory for those with baby number two or three on the way. 

Classes run for 6 consecutive Monday or Thursday nights, all year round requiring a Big Sister. Classes run from 7 – 9pm, with ½ an hour either side for set up and break down.
