Childbirth Education

Learn about birthing, babies and meet new parents

East & Bays Parents Centre provides a six session course run by a professional Childbirth Educator.

We aim to provide a balanced approach to childbirth education. Classes are fun, informal & friendly and give the parents-to-be the opportunity to meet other parents in your local neighbourhood. Friendships formed may last a lifetime.

The antenatal course covers:

Development and growth during pregnancy
Understanding your changing body
Antenatal care & tests
Informed choices
Labour & birth
Coping during labour
Infant feeding

Also in the course is a special session on a Saturday morning called Practical Parenting. This session discusses issues such as nappies, bathing, winding, bassinet/cot making, car seats and requirements for baby (eg. clothes & equipment).

After completion of your course, the group continues to meet as a support/coffee group. For this support group, it plays as a vital role in helping with the changes a baby inevitably brings

Your course fee of $275 also includes a 12 month Parents Centre subscription where you will receive the East & Bays Parents Centre bi-monthly newsletter and the Parents Centre National Magazine (Kiwiparent) and the Baby & You course for babies from newborn to 3 months, held for 5 weeks on a Wednesday morning.

A class will be confirmed for you depending on your due date. You are usually about 29-31 weeks when starting the class.
