PARENT EDUCATION

The courses below are FREE (up to a maximum of 15 participants) for Parents Centre members and a small charge for non-members. Come along and meet other parents in a relaxed and informative group.

1. Baby and You - 0-3 Months

This is a five-week course, run on a Thursday morning for parents of new babies. Parents-to-be are also welcome to attend this course even if your baby hasn't arrived yet as you will still find the information interesting and useful.
It covers feeding, sleeping and crying, time management, immunisation, Well Child Checks, Postnatal Depression, development and milestones, baby massage, books and toys, and music and play.

The course is $15 for Christchurch central members & $30.00 for non-members.

2008 course dates are as follows:

· Thurs 4 Sept – 2 October
· Thurs 6 Nov – 4 December

2. Moving and Munching 4-8 Months

This course is for parents of babies 4-8 months of age. Two fun and informative evenings that will answer your questions on child development and feeding issues in the months that lie ahead. Moving: A specialist discusses baby safety now that your child is mobile, the development of fine motor skills and how you can assist, how babies learn through play and age appropriate toys, the development of language and intellect and how you can stimulate this.

Munching: A qualified Dietician will discuss introducing solids, good nutrition for all ages, drinks, snacks and treats, teething and dental care, the child who won't eat, iron rich foods and food allergies.

The course is $25.00 for non-members.

2008 course dates are as follows:

· Weds 6 & 13 August
· Weds 5 & 12 November

3. Tinies to Tots 10-18 Months

This course consists of two evening sessions (Nutrition and teeth, and play and stimulation) each led by a specialist in the field.

We aim for the course to be relaxed and informative with time for questions, a great opportunity for you to meet other parents experiencing the same joys and challenges. The course is $25 for non-members. 2008 Course dates are as followed:

· Mons 15 & 22 September
· Mons 24 November & 1 December
