Childbirth Education (Antenatal) ClassesAbout this programme:Our Childbirth Education program is a seven-week course to prepare parents physically and emotionally for the changes during pregnancy and labour. We hold classes continuously throughout the year, one starting every month except December. It is usually an evening class, plus one Saturday morning Practical Parenting session and a tour of North Shore Hospital’s maternity area. (At extra busy times, we will often be able to run an additional class, or sometimes an intensive weekend class, which runs over two Saturdays)
Our courses are very popular and fill up quickly, so feel free to call as early in your pregnancy as you like to register your place. We won't identify ourselves as being antenatal classes if we call you back at work! You will ideally start your course at about 28 weeks of pregnancy.
The course venue is the St John’s Ambulance station on Apollo Drive, upstairs in the First Aid training rooms New parents who attend our antenatal classes form strong friendships as they go through this exciting new stage in life together. Our course hosts help set up coffee groups for the new mums to catch up and have a cuppa - and share what's happening with their new baby! And for the dads - beer groups. Coffee groups keep going strong years after the antenatal class has finished.
