Strategy
- Parents Centres will be the recognised and preferred volunteer partner to deliver friendly, professional and confidence building volunteer experiences
- Parents Centres will recruit talented, motivated and valued volunteers and sustain them within the Parents Centres New Zealand family to deliver value to all Centres and to individuals by enhancing the skill set of volunteers
- Parents Centres will provide support, sustenance and nurture to all Centres and Volunteers
- Parents Centres will create an environment of success for Centres and Volunteers by the enablement of resources.
- Parents Centres will develop a key message that involvement with Parents Centres is always worthwhile.
- Parents Centres will consult freely and transparently with the organisation on strategic direction. This consultation will occur within the parameters of the existing mandate
- Parents Centres will develop and manage an effective consultation process throughout the complete organisation recognising that the organisation will work most effectively through inspired leadership with strategies driven from the grass roots of the organisation
Goals
- To define the value of being a Parents Centres volunteer
- To grow our volunteer network by 20% by 2008
- To conduct a multicultural review
- To have 80% of volunteers trained by 2008 year end
- To develop a comprehensive and consistent national volunteer policy supported by the organisation
- To have communication processes that give potential and existing volunteers the information they need, when they need it, in a form that is easily utilised.
- To develop, within the communication process a strategy that will ensure Centres are fully conversant with the “triangle structure” i.e. a national support Centre supporting Centres. This will ensure that Centres understand the organisation is not ‘top down’ driven, rather supported from the bottom up through the organisation
- To develop relationships with all ministerial bodies that support volunteering
- To develop a Centre consultation process for the organisation to ensure strategy reflects current issues and organisational goals support the strategy
- To have strong and sustainable volunteer committees that are well trained and understand the guidelines, roles and responsibilities as set down in the handbook
- To have all Centre volunteers confident in their ability to perform their specified roles. This will be supported with a training plan that clearly identifies priority training areas for volunteers
- To develop and maintain exceptional Volunteer Service resources
- To have all volunteers trained in Introduction to Parents Centres by the end of April 2007 following the establishment of new committees after AGM’s
- To create demand for training by selling the value proposition
- To have all Centre volunteers strongly supported by an RC team that is well trained and proficient in its role.
- To have an increase in volunteer numbers by a determined percentage over a 6 month period. This will be supported with a volunteer policy, recruitment plan and kit
- To ensure all committee members are trained and that this training is current
- To deliver timely and relevant Parent Education programmes that are consistently updated to deliver a value proposition to volunteers
- To provide exemplary Parent Education to all members through the volunteer workforce
- To include everyone in the recruitment message – a shared responsibility
- To develop clear and timely succession plans through the volunteer hierarchy and teams
- To monitor volunteer levels in all Centres and offer more support to those with dropping numbers or showing signs of struggle.
